Instrument Maintenance

Calibration
ASTM Mandates Calibration of Instrumentation for 6 month and on on annual basis.
  • New ASTM mandates REQUIRE Grabner Vapor Pressure Instruments receive pressure re-calculations every 6 MONTHS.
  • ASTM D5191-03, Section 10.1.1 REQUIRE that a "calibration check" be performed every 6 months - this "check" is actually defined as a complete re-calibration of the pressure system, not simply a verification at ambient or zero pressure.
  • ASTM D5191-03, Section 10.2 REQUIRE the temperature sensing system be verified at least every six months. Utilize our On-Line return authorization form to schedule your appointment.

Tips and Tricks
  • Are you verifying sample temperature of 32-34°F prior to testing? To comply with ASTM D5191 standards, sample must be chilled.
  • Remember to add a small amount of Piston Oil to your instrument (0.1 mL) when it returns from annual tune and calibration to prevent o-ring from drying out and/or possible piston errors. Possible tipping of the unit during shipping can cause oil loss. Refer to your user manual section 12.3 (Maint & Troubleshooting). To re-order Piston Oil, mention part #20111.
